ECHL Suspends Five Players for Postgame Altercation

PRINCETON, N.J. – The East Coast Hockey League announced on Tuesday a series of disciplinary actions against the Louisiana IceGators and the Mississippi Sea Wolves as a result of an altercation following ECHL Game # 913 on March 22 at Louisiana.

For Louisiana, defenseman Jeff Worlton has been suspended for eight games, left wing Derek Boogaard has been suspended for six games, and right wing Nathan Rempel has been suspended for five games.

For Mississippi, defenseman Austin Miller has been suspended for five games and goaltender Sean Matile has been suspended for one game.

Worlton, Boogaard and Rempel will each miss Louisiana's regular season games at Jackson (Mar. 26), at Baton Rouge (Mar. 28), at Arkansas (Mar. 29) and vs. Jackson (Mar. 30). Rempel will miss Louisiana's first game of the Kelly Cup Playoffs while Boogaard will miss Louisiana's first three games of the Kelly Cup Playoffs. Worlton will miss Louisiana's first four games of the Kelly Cup Playoffs. In the event that Louisiana does not play four games in the Kelly Cup Playoffs, the final game of Worlton's suspension will be carried over to the 2003-04 season.

Miller has already missed Mississippi's game vs. Arkansas (Mar. 23) and will miss Mississippi's games vs. Baton Rouge (Mar. 25), at Pensacola (Mar. 28) and at Jackson (Mar. 29), and he will miss Mississippi's first game of the Kelly Cup Playoffs. Matile will miss Mississippi's game vs. Baton Rouge (Mar. 25).
