Gendur Scores Hat Trick In Victory

Everett Silvertips News Release

Everett, Wash. - The Everett Silvertips knocked off the Kamloops Blazers 5-3 on Monday evening, December 29th, at Comcast Arena at the Everett Events Center. Clayton Bauer and Zach Hamill both had three points, but Dan Gendur was the star of the night with three goals and an assist. His four points is the most by a 'Tip in a single game this season. The victory pushes Everett's record to 20-18-0-2 (42 pts) placing them third in the U.S. Division and fifth in the Western Conference.

In a first period that resulted in four combined goals, Everett came away with a 3-1 edge. Gendur picked up the home team's first two at 8:51 and 16:06, respectively. The first came on the first Silvertip power play and the second was a quick answer to the Kamloops lone goal at 15:49 by Shayne Wiebe. Just 47-seconds later Bauer put Everett to 2-for-3 on the power play with his 14th of the season; Bauer led the team with seven goals in the month of December.

The second period played out with the Silvertips on the power play four separate times. The second of which was a successful one when Hamill put a Bauer rebound into an open net at 5:38. Then, shortly after a big Justin LeClerc power play save, Kamloops responded at 18:44 of the period when Mark Schneider scored his first career goal. That combination helped the Blazers steal back some momentum heading into the final 20-minutes.

They would create themselves into a serious threat with a C.J. Stretch power play goal at 13:02 to pull to within one. However, another Kamloops man advantage paved the way for Gendur to add an exclamation point to the evening. He won the race to a loose puck just outside of the Silvertips zone and headed down ice with a partial breakaway. His shot from inside the left circle trickled through the pads of LeClerc and into the net at 15:59.

The Silvertips return to action this coming Friday night, January 4th, to take on the Chilliwack Bruins. Game time at Comcast Arena at the Everett Events Center is scheduled for 7:35 p.m. They then round out their three-in-three weekend with road games at Portland on Saturday night and at Tri-City on Sunday evening.
