Kamloops Blazers News Release
Dan Gendur's third goal of the night - shorthanded - with 4 minutes left in the third dashed the Blazers comeback hopes as the 'Tips held on for a 5-3 win in Everett on New Year's Eve.
Gendur opened the scoring on the powerplay with Shayne Wiebe tying it - briefly - for the Blazers. Just 17 seconds later, Gendur restored the lead with Clayton Bauer adding a powerplay goal for a 3-1 Everett lead after one.
In the second, Zach Hamill made it a 4-1 game with a powerplay tally before Mark Schneider - with his first career goal - brought the Blazers back within two after two.
CJ Stretch picked up a powerplay goal with 7 minutes left to make it a 4-3 game and with the Blazers back on the powerplay with 4 minutes to go, Gendur completed the hat trick to close the scoring.
Final shots were 36-25 Silvertips with Shayne Barrie getting the win and Justin Leclerc taking the loss.
The 'Tips were 3-for-8 on the PP with the Blazers 1-for-5.
Next up: the Tri-City Americans at ISC on Friday night.
