Adirondack Thunder News Release

TONIGHT'S MATCHUP: Tonight's matchup is Game 5 of the Eastern Conference Quarterfinals between the Manchester Monarchs and the Adirondack Thunder. The Thunder lead the best of seven series 3-1 after the Monarchs staved off elimination with a 2-1 win in Monday's Game 4. The Thunder have the opportunity to close out the series tonight with a win over the Monarchs.

IT'S BEEN AWHILE: The Thunder are looking to become the first Adirondack team since 1994 to win a playoff series, dating back to the Adirondack Red Wings days. The Red Wings defeated the Springfield Indians in six games in their American Hockey League Northern Division Semi-Final series in the 1994 Calder Cup Playoffs.

LOMB CHOPS: Thunder winger Ryan Lomberg tallied for the second straight game in the series with Adirondack's lone goal in Monday's 2-1 defeat. With Adirondack on the man advantage, Lomberg buried a pinpoint wrist shot from the slot to knot the score at one late in the second period. Lomberg was second on Adirondack's roster during the regular season with 18 goals and fourth with 35 points.

BOY WHO CRIED WOLFE: Forward Greg Wolfe extended his playoff scoring streak to four games with the primary assist on Lomberg's power-play goal. Wolfe currently leads all ECHL scorers with both four goals and seven points and has found his way onto the scoresheet in every game this series. Including the regular season, Wolfe leads all Adirondack scorers with 14 points (10-4-14) in 10 April games.

HELPING HAND: Forward Peter MacArthur leads all ECHL players with five assists in the playoffs and ranks second in overall scoring with six points, sandwiched between Wolfe and Mitchell Heard (3-2-5). In his Kelly Cup Playoff career, MacArthur has collected 17 points (7-10-17) in 19 games played. The Clifton Park, NY native set a career playoff mark with three helpers in Game 3 on Saturday.

CAST AWAY: The Thunder have thrived all season on special teams away from home as they ranked third in the ECHL at 21.7% on the power-play and tenth on the penalty kill at 84.3%. Only Allen and South Carolina had a higher combined PP and PK on the road than Adirondack this season. The Thunder have yet to allow a power-play goal on the road in this series, ranking a perfect 5-of-5 to date.

A LOOK AHEAD: The Thunder can close out the series with a victory tonight. If the Monarchs are victorious on home ice, the series would return to Glens Falls for Game 6 on Friday evening at 7:00 p.m.
