TONIGHT'S MATCHUP: The Thunder conclude a six-game homestand this evening as they host the Orlando Solar Bears for the first time this season. The two teams met four times during the 2015-16 season, each winning twice, including a 4-2 win for the Thunder in the lone meeting at the Glens Falls Civic Center.
MAC 500: Thunder forward Peter MacArthur appeared in his 500th career professional game on Sunday. MacArthur, the all-time leader for the Thunder in both assists (63) and points (92), has skated across four different leagues in his professional career, including the AHL and ECHL in North America. The Clifton Park, NY native is also Adirondack's leading scorer this season with 56 points (21-35-56) from 58 games played.
WE THE NORTH: With two wins from three games over the weekend, Adirondack moved into a tie for second place in the North Division with the Reading Royals at 76 points on the season. Both teams sit three points shy of Brampton for the division lead and one point ahead of Manchester, who sits in fourth. Wheeling, currently on the outside looking in, has 70 points in fifth place.
THE FAVORITE ANDER-SON: Goaltender J.P. Anderson was named the CCM ECHL Goaltender of the Week for his performance last week. Anderson amassed a 2-0-0 record along with a .936 save percentage and a 2.20 goals against average over three appearances. Anderson made a career-high 44 saves in Saturday's win over Wheeling and followed up by allowing just one goal in Sunday's 6-1 win over Atlanta.
PUTTING PEN-ALTY TO PAPER: In Sunday's 6-1 win over Atlanta, the Thunder and Gladiators combined for 176 penalty minutes, the most in an ECHL game this season. Atlanta alone amassed 124 minutes of penalties, also an ECHL season high, including eight misconduct penalties. On the season, Atlanta is the fourth most penalized team in the Eastern Conference with 936 PIMs with Adirondack ninth at 781.
NEVER A CULL MOMENT: Adirondack forward Cullen Bradshaw led all Thunder skaters last week with five points (2-3-5) from three games played. The 5-11 forward collected a goal and an assist in Thunder wins on Saturday and Sunday, including a late third period goal on Saturday against Wheeling, as they Thunder won in thrilling comeback fashionl as well as an assist on the game-winning goal on Sunday.
GENTLE AS A LOMB: Ryan Lomberg became the first Adirondack Thunder alum to sign an NHL contract as he inked an entry-level deal with the Calgary Flames on Sunday. Lomberg appeared in 55 games between the 2015-16 regular season and playoffs and finished second on the team with 18 regular-season goals. Lomberg also collected six points (3-3-6) in 12 playoff games as he helped lead the Thunder to the second round.
