
Monarchs Sign Charles Williams to SPC

MANCHESTER, N.H. - Manchester Monarchs Head Coach and Director of Hockey Operations, Rich Seeley, announced today that Charles Williams has signed a Standard Player Contract with the team, after completing the 2016-17 season with Canisius College.
The Monarchs are the ECHL affiliate of the National Hockey League's Los Angeles Kings.
Williams, 25, completed his senior season at Canisius and was named a Top-10 finalist for the Hockey Baker Award, awarded to the best player in college hockey, and was a semi-finalist for the Mike Richter Award, awarded to the best goaltender in college hockey. This season at Canisius, Williams posted a 21-7-5 record, a 1.82 goals against average and a 0.943 save percentage in 2010 minutes.
The 5-foot-11, 179-pound native of Canton, Mich., was named the Atlantic Hockey Conference's Goaltender of the Year, Player of the Year and won a regular season championship while at Canisius. Williams was also named the AHC Goalie of the week six times and ranked in the Top-5 nationally in save percentage (1), goals against average (2) and shutouts (T-1). Prior to joining the Golden Griffins, Williams spent three seasons at Ferris State University where he played 20 games.
Williams and the Monarchs are back on the ice Wednesday, Mar. 22 (7 p.m.), when they visit the Reading Royals at Santander Arena in a North Division showdown with playoff implications on the line.
The Monarchs return to SNHU Arena ice Saturday, Apr. 1 (6 p.m.), when they begin a two-game series with the Elmira Jackals to kick-off Fan Appreciation Weekend!
