December 21, 2017 - ECHL (ECHL)
Tulsa Oilers News Release
WICHITA, KS - Two goals from Tulsa forward Garrett Ladd led the Oilers to a 4-2 victory Tuesday over the Wichita Thunder at INTRUST Bank Arena.
The Thunder opened the scoring, when Dyson Stevenson scooped up a rebound and snuck a shot past Oilers goaltender Jake Hildebrand just 4:17 into the game. Tulsa tied it up, when Charlie Sampair deflected a shot that came from the point for his team-leading 11th goal of the season. The Oilers jumped into the lead before the end of the frame, when Ladd knocked a puck into the net out of mid-air from the doorstep.
Wichita tied the game at 2-2, when Jeremy Beaudry blasted a shot through a screen from the point on the power play, but Ladd added his second goal shortly thereafter, against putting the Oilers back in the lead. Tulsa outshot Wichita 19-10 in the stanza, and held a 32-20 shots advantage through two periods.
The Oilers maintained their lead all the way to the finish, and Kale Kessy added a short-handed tally in the final minute to complete Tulsa's 4-2 win. Hildebrand stopped 24 of 26 shots for his sixth win of the season, while Thunder goaltender Shane Starrett stopped 36 of 39 in the loss.
Tulsa travels to Allen, Texas on Friday and Saturday for two 7:05pm battles against the Allen Americans at the Allen Event Center before Christmas weekend.
