GAME RECAP: IceDogs Fall to Battalion 6-3

After a busy week hosting the Canadian National Junior Team Selection Camp at the Meridian Centre, your Niagara IceDogs were back on home ice tonight. In their annual Teddy Bear Toss game, the IceDogs welcomed a boisterous crowd ready to throw their teddies!
The Battalion captured the early lead in the first period, but it wasn't long before the captain scored. Scoring for the 2nd consecutive year to make the Meridian Centre rain teddy bears, Johnny Corneil scored his 7th of year right off the draw! Johnathon Schaefer and Akil Thomas picked up the assists on Corneil's marker. The Battalion regained their lead in the 2nd period, taking a 3-1 lead. In the final minute of the period, Kirill Maksimov scored to cut the North Bay lead to 1! Sneaking the puck under the net, Maksi picked up his 19th goal of the season. Ben Jones and Johnny Corneil were credited with the assists! The Battalion scored four goals early in the 3rd period to take a 6-2 lead. With four minutes to play in the 3rd period, Ben Jones collected his 2nd point of the night, by cutting the Battalion lead in half. The 'Dogs continued to push to score more, but couldn't come closer to tying the score. The Battalion took this one 6-3.
The 'Dogs are back in action tomorrow night at home against the Barrie Colts to finish their schedule before the holiday break.
