Pensacola Ice Flyers News Release

PENSACOLA, Fla. (Dec. 16, 2016) - The Pensacola Ice Flyers (5-6-5) couldn't capitalize on a 33-28 shot advantage and fell by a score of 3-1 to the Huntsville Havoc (13-4-1) on Friday night inside the Pensacola Bay Center. The first period was a tight-checking, back-and-forth battle that ended scoreless with the Ice Flyers leading in shots on goal 12 to 11. In the second period, it was Huntsville who scored first when Dylan Nowakowski broke the scoreless tie 1:41 into the period. Lou Educate made it 2-0 Huntsville just 2:16 later. The Ice Flyers got on the board when Austin McKay hit Maxime St-Cyr with a great pass as St-Cyr was flying up the left wing boards. St-Cyr first faked the forehand and then shifted to be backhand and put the puck top shelf with 5:06 left in the middle frame. When the Ice Flyers were unable to finalize the comeback, they pulled goalie Matt Zenzola with 1:22 left in the game. The extra attacker wasn't enough to beat the Havoc's Tyler Steel and then Huntsville cashed in with an empty netter when Stuart Stefan scored with 1:19 left in the game. Zenzola stopped 25 of the 27 shots on goal that he faced. His record now stands at 3-3-4. The Ice Flyers and the Havoc will face off again tomorrow inside the Pensacola Bay Center. It'll be Polar Express & PJs Night inside the Hangar. Puck drop is scheduled for 7:05 p.m. and the first 1,000 kids, 12 and under, through the doors will receive a free Ice Flyers jersey.
