Today, the Aberdeen Wings take on the Michigan Warriors at the NAHL Showcase Tournament in Blaine, Minnesota. The game is scheduled for a 10:15am puck drop.
The Aberdeen Wings are coming off their first official game of the 2014-2015 NAHL season, which was a 3-2 loss yesterday to the Johnstown Tomahawks. Scoring for the Wings was #16 Kyle Haak (F-Okemos, MI) and #24 Ronnie Hein (F-Chelsea, MI). The penalty kill for the Wings was only 50% successful yesterday as the Tomahawks scored twice on power plays. #20 Jack Nile (F-Lisle, IL), #21 Bjorn Sigurdarson (F-Reykjavik, Iceland), and Hein each had an assist in the game. Wings goaltender #1 Chad Catt suffered his first loss of the season stopping 16 of 19 shots.
The Wings' opponent today is the Michigan Warriors of the NAHL North Division. They are 0-1-0 after losing to the Austin Bruins 5-2 yesterday. Forwards Derek Frentz and Nick Mosher scored goals in the game. Michigan goaltender Trevor Gorsuch stopped 28 of 33 shots on goal. Last season, the Michigan Warriors were 30-20-10 including a trip to the NAHL playoffs. The Warriors return two of their top 10 scorers from last season; forward Tyler Groat (17G, 14A, 31PTS) and forward AJ Marcinek (10G, 14A, 24PTS).
Game begins this morning at 10:15am. The game will be broadcast on FASTHockey.com ONLY with the call from the new voice of the Wings Jay Kleinknecht.
