Ice Miners Blanked by Bruins

BLAINE, MN - The Ice Miners fell to 1-1-1 on the young season Thursday morning at the NAHL Showcase, falling 4-0 to the Austin Bruins.

The Bruins scored the game's opening goal at 7:17 of the first period when Brian Bachnak beat Keystone goaltender Alex Blankenburg, off a pass from Hugo Gallet. Leading 1-0 after 20 minutes, Austin extended their lead 7:02 into the second period when Nathan Bastian crashed the net, following up a Trevor Boyd shot and made it 2-0.

In the third period, the Bruins added two more when Brady Jones netted his first NAHL goal at 5:20 and Alex Pettersson followed up two minutes later with a shorthanded goal, completing the 4-0 final score. Jake Kielly made 26 saves for the shutout victory.

The Ice Miners continue their NAHL Showcase slate on Friday at 5:45 PM ET (4:45 CT) against the Aberdeen Wings, who defeated Johnstown on Thursday, also by a 4-0 final.
