
Blizzard Earns First Win

After losing their first season game to the Jr. Blues yesterday the Blizzard were looking to redeem themselves. On the second day of the NAHL showcasw they faced the Janesville Jets today at 1:45pm, looking for a big W, and that's what they got. Winning 5-3 over Janesville.
The first period was a battle to see who would send the puck into the back of the net, just 6:28 minutes left in the first period Tj Samec put the Blizzard on the board first. Joe Nathe and Jared Goudreau had the assists.
Second period the Blizzard were hungry for more goals. Only 4:47 into the period Zach Glienke scored on Matt Jurusik. Beau Michaud and Tj Samec assisted Glienke's goal. The Blizzard were up by two and the chemistry was lively, only 20 later Viktor Lindell, from Sweden, scored giving the Blizzard a 3-0 lead. Assisting Lindell was Jared Goudreau and Oscar Odd. With the 3-0 lead the Blizzard were feeling confident.
Janesville was in hot pursuit of goals, the intensity was climbing, Jared Goudreau was sent to the penalty box for boarding at the 7:23 mark for two minutes. 9 seconds into Goudreau's two minutes, Zach Lavalle scored on Justin Ketola. Assisting Lavalle was Alex Smith and Evan Feno. With 8:11 left in the second the Jets scored, by K. Hoffmann assisted by Smith and Click. Making the score 3-2. Unable to answer for the two goals the Blizzard were still up by one.
To stay on top the Blizzard battled with Janesville 6:42 left in the third Janesville tied it up, 3-3. Scoring for the Jets, David Radke, assisted by Mitch Fossier. Frustrated, the Blizzard knew they had to set it up. Losing was not in their vocabulary today.
Just 15 seconds after the Jets scored the Blizzard soared one into the back of the net, 4-3. His second goal of the day Zach Glinke was assisted by Beau Michaud and Joe Anderson. Not satisfied and a Jet, A. Smith, in the penalty box for high sticking, the Blizzard scored again with 4 minutes left making the score 5-3 scored by Connor Hutchins, with his third assist of the day Beau Michaud, Jared Goudreau with his second assist of the day.
Justin Ketola held off the Jets for the last four minutes to win the game 5-3. The teamwork and communication was on point today for the big W.
The Blizzard are now 1-1-0 in the NAHL standings. They face Soo Eagles tomorrow morning at 10am at the Schwan Super Rink in Blaine, MN, looking for another win. The game can be seen on FastHockey.com.
