Keystone Ice Miners News Release
CONNELLSVILLE, PA - From the moment the first period ended 0-0, you got the feeling that one goal might be enough to win Saturday night's game two between the Ice Miners and Soo Eagles. That was indeed the case, as it took until 3:46 of overtime for someone to break through. That someone was Soo forward Trevor Cope, who gave his team a 2-0 series lead heading home.
The Ice Miners played a much stronger game than Friday's game one but could not beat Soo netminder Chad Catt. They outshot the Eagles 32-21 through three periods plus overtime and had the vast majority of quality scoring chances, but had nothing to show for it. Nick Kossoff was just as good for the Ice Miners but couldn't stop Cope's wrister from the slot as he used the defense as a screen and ended the game, 1-0.
Game three will be Friday night at Pullar Stadium in Sault Saint Marie, Michigan. at 7:30. The Ice Miners must win to keep their season alive. The game will be streamed on FASTHockey.com, with the AWAY feed carrying the Ice Miners broadcast. Fans can attend viewing parties at the Scottdale Fireman's Club or Park Inn by Radisson. If necessary, game four will be 7:00 on Saturday night also at Pullar Stadium.
