Game Preview: Steelhawks at Blizzard
June 2, 2011 - Indoor Football League (IFL)
Lehigh Valley Steelhawks News Release
Bethlehem, PA: The Lehigh Valley Steelhawks (4-8) head north to take on the Green Bay Blizzard this Saturday evening as they seek their fourth consecutive victory. The game marks the first ever meeting between the two franchises. The Steelhawks are fresh off a 46-38 victory over the Richmond Revolution last weekend in the team's final home game.
The Blizzard currently sit in first place in the Great Lakes Division with a 9-3 record and have already clinched a playoff spot. Nipping at their heels just one game behind them in their division are both the Bloomington Extreme and Chicago Slaughter at 8-4 each. Green Bay boasts a ton of talent in all three phases of the game led by a receiving core that includes Agim Shabaj (54 catches, 604 yards, 12 TD) and Lonnie Sanders (49 catches, 449 yards, 11 TD's). BJ Hill on special teams has also recorded four kick returns for touchdowns. The Steelhawks will have to match the Blizzard's speed this weekend.
The Steelhawks are riding high with a three game winning streak that started on May 14th in Richmond. The defense has been stellar of late, which included Linebacker Adrain McLeod who is the reigning IFL Defensive Player of the Week following his 11 tackle, three sack performance against the Revolution. Look for McLeod, who was released earlier this season by the Blizzard, to seek a little redemption against his former team.
"Green Bay may be the toughest team we face all year," stated Steelhawks Head Coach Rich Britt. "They are fast, play hard, and are coached well. It is going to take another total team effort to get this fourth win in a row, but the heart of our team of late has shown it can be done."
Kickoff for the game is slated for 8:30 p.m. EST, Saturday, June 4th. Fans wishing to watch the game can log onto www.b2livetv.com to stream it live. For further information on the Lehigh Valley Steelhawks please contact Executive Vice President Mike Clark at 610-282-3100.
