Game Preview - Lehigh Valley and Green Bay Meet for the First Time

Blizzard Update: Green Bay topped La Crosse last week 66-31 for their second win against the Spartans this season. The Blizzard took control of the game early by scoring 27 points in the first quarter. Newly signed wide receivers Willie Quinnie and Cedric Hill made an immediate impact by catching two touchdowns each in the first quarter. Quarterback Willie Copeland hit Quinnie two more times in the second half and the defense continued to play strong, scoring two touchdowns, forcing seven Spartan turnovers and only allowing 152 yards of total offense. Josh Jones led the Blizzard defensively, by intercepting two passes, forcing one fumble and collecting nine tackles. One of his two interceptions, he returned for a 18-yard touchdown. The fumble Jones forced was returned for a touchdown by B.J. Hill. Kicker Josh Shene finished the night, making 4 of 5 field goals. Copeland completed 17 of 33 passes for 207 yards and six passing touchdowns. Quinnie caught seven passes for 90 yards and scored four touchdowns, while Hill caught three passes for 49 yards and scored three touchdowns.

Steelhawks Update: Lehigh Valley (Bethlehem, PA) won their third straight game last week with a 46-38 victory over the Richmond Revolution. The Steelhawks offense put up 31 first half points and kept the Revolution out of the end zone. Richmond made a second half rally and only trailed by six, with the ball and under one minute remaining in the game. Steelhawks linebacker Adrian McLeod recorded the team=EF=BF1/2s ninth sack of the game in the form of a game winning safety. McLeod lead the defense with 13 tackles and three sacks. Quarterback Andre Sloan El completed 7 of 14 passes for 84 yards and three touchdowns for the Steelhawks.

Series: Green Bay has never faced Lehigh Valley. The Steelhawks joined the IFL as an expansion team this season.

Notes: The Green Bay offense is third in the IFL with 53.2 points per game and Lehigh Valley is near the bottom of the league with 31.4 points per game. The Blizzard offense has scored 50 touchdowns this season compared to the Steelhawks 22. Defensively, Green Bay allows 36.2 points per game and Lehigh Valley allows 40.1 points per game. The Blizzard ranks near the top of the league with 27 interceptions and 28 sacks compared to the Steelhawks nine interceptions and 20 sacks. Blizzard kicker Josh Shene leads the IFL with 26 field goals. Lehigh Valley running back Isaiah Grier is third in the IFL with 125 rushing attempts for 572 yards and 12 touchdowns.

Playoffs: Sioux Falls has clinched the number one seed in the United Conference. Saturday's game in Green Bay has important playoff ramifications for the number two seed and a first round bye. The Blizzard can clinch the number two seed if they can win the final two games of the season. Green Bay leads Bloomington and Chicago by one game.
