Game Preview: New England Revolution vs. D.C. United

FOXBOROUGH, Mass. - The New England Revolution (6-4-6, 24 pts.) return to the pitch against D.C. United (2-6-4, 10 pts.) at Gillette Stadium on Saturday in the first of three consecutive home contests. The match kicks off at 7:30 p.m. ET and will be televised locally on NBC Sports Boston with Brad Feldman, Paul Mariner, and Naoko Funayama on the call. Authenticated subscribers may stream the match on NBCSportsBoston.com and on the NBC Sports app. The contest also airs on the radio with 98.5 The Sports Hub broadcasting the action in English and 1260 AM Nossa Radio providing Portuguese commentary.

Saturday's match will be the first of two meetings between the Revolution and D.C. United in 2018, with the second contest slated for August 19 at Audi Field. New England enters the match unbeaten in five straight MLS games and is aiming for an undefeated month of June (currently 1-0-2). Meanwhile, D.C. is playing its seventh consecutive away match and owns a 1-6-3 mark away from home this season.

In addition, Bobblehead Night returns to Gillette Stadium on Saturday, as fans will receive the Revolution-themed Slyde the Fox bobblehead upon entry at all Gillette stadium gates while supplies last.

New England will continue its homestand on Saturday, July 7 with a matchup against defending Western Conference champions Seattle Sounders FC at Gillette Stadium. Kickoff for that game is scheduled for 7:30 p.m. ET, and will be broadcast locally on NBC Sports Boston, 98.5 The Sports Hub, and 1260 AM Nossa Radio.

The Revolution registering the club's first unbeaten month of the 2018 MLS regular season. New England enters the match 1-0-2 in June. New England last went unbeaten in a single month (minimum three games) in 2015, doing so in August (3-0-0) and April (3-0-1).

Midfielder Diego Fagundez potentially making his 200th career regular season MLS appearance and 150th career regular season start. At 23 years and 136 days old, he would become the youngest MLS player to reach the first milestone, and the second youngest to achieve the second behind Eddie Gaven (22 years, 245 days), per the Elias Sports Bureau.

Forward Teal Bunbury becoming the fifth player to register 10 goals this season. Bunbury currently trails MLS scoring leader Josef Martinez by five tallies.

Defender Andrew Farrell potentially making his 175th career regular season start.

Midfielder Kelyn Rowe potentially making his 150th career regular season start.

Midfielder and 2018 MLS All-Star Wifried Zahibo scoring two goals to give the Revs four five-goal scorers on the season. The Revs enter the week as one of three MLS clubs with at least three five-goal scorers (New York City FC and Sporting Kansas City).

There are a few notable connections between the Revolution and D.C. United:

o Revolution Head Coach Brad Friedel and D.C. United Head Coach Ben Olsen were teammates on the U.S. Men's National Team at the 2000 Summer Olympics in Sydney, Australia.

o Revolution defender Andrew Farrell and D.C. United midfielder Nick DeLeon were teammates at the University of Louisville from 2010-11.

o D.C. United forward Patrick Mullins was selected by the Revolution with the 11th overall pick in the 2014 MLS SuperDraft. After helping the club to MLS Cup 2014, he was selected by New York City FC in the 2014 MLS Expansion Draft.
