Techera Suspended for Use of Offensive Language

NEW YORK - Major League Soccer today announced that Vancouver Whitecaps FC midfielder Cristian Techera has been issued a three-game suspension and undisclosed fine for use of offensive language during Vancouver's match against the Philadelphia Union on June 23. Techera will serve his three-game suspension during Whitecaps FC matches on July 1 against the Colorado Rapids, July 7 against the Chicago Fire, and July 14 against D.C. United.

MLS has a zero tolerance policy against offensive, discriminatory language at its games, and is committed to creating an environment in which all individuals are treated with respect and dignity.
