New England Revolution News Release
FOXBOROUGH, Mass. - The New England Revolution (12-3-4; 40 pts.) will look to extend the club's unbeaten run to a season-best seven games when it visits Toronto FC (3-9-6; 15 pts.) on Saturday, August 14 at BMO Field. New England's first match in Toronto since 2019 kicks off at 8:00 p.m. ET and airs locally on WSBK-TV38 and myRITV in Rhode Island, with Brad Feldman and Charlie Davies calling the action. The contest is also available on the radio on 98.5 The Sports Hub and 1260 AM Nossa Radio. Out-of-market subscribers can stream the match live on ESPN+.
New England meets Toronto for the second time this season, following a 3-2 loss at Gillette Stadium on July 7 highlighted by a three-goal outburst within the first 24 minutes of play from the Reds. Since then, New England has collected 16 of a possible 18 points, matching the team's season-high of six consecutive matches without a loss, including five victories. The Revolution have outscored opponents 13-4 during the unbeaten streak, including three clean sheets. New England has also fared well on the road during its undefeated run having won three straight away matches. With a win in Saturday's contest, New England will match club records for most consecutive away wins (4) - set in 2008 - and most away victories in a single season (6), reached seven times in franchise history and most recently in 2020. The team's 16 away victories in the regular season and playoffs since Bruce Arena took over as Sporting Director & Head Coach in June 2019 are the most in MLS during that span.
The Revolution enter this weekend's match against TFC atop of the Supporters' Shield and Eastern Conference standings. Following Sunday's 2-1 win over the Philadelphia Union, the Revolution are six points clear atop the MLS table and 10 points ahead in the conference. Sunday's triumph against Philadelphia was highlighted by goals from forward Gustavo Bou and midfielder Matt Polster, who scored his first goal in a Revolution uniform. Bou's game-winning goal, his 11th goal of the season, moved him into a co-lead with Seattle's Raul Ruidiaz atop the MLS Golden Boot race. The Reigning MLS Player of the Month holds his place as the most in-form striker in MLS, with 10 goals across his last 12 appearances. Fellow Designated Player Adam Buksa joins Bou in forming a potent forward duo in New England's attack, which owns an MLS-best 35 goals. Buksa has scored three times in his last five appearances and owns eight total goals on the season. Buksa remains the only Revolution player to have appeared in every game since the start of the 2020 season.
Goalkeeper Matt Turner backstopped the Revolution with a five-save outing on Sunday to collect his eighth win of the season - equaling his career-high and tied for second-most in MLS. Including his six appearances in the Concacaf Gold Cup, Turner carries a nine-match unbeaten streak in which he has conceded only two goals from open play. Center back Andrew Farrell continues to anchor the club's back line as Major League Soccer's co-leader in minutes played this season (1,710). The Revs' all-time leader in MLS games started, Farrell (258) is just three appearances shy of matching the club record for games played in a New England shirt - a mark held jointly by Shalrie Joseph and Diego Fagundez (261). Farrell (22,752) also enters Saturday's contest 116 minutes away from surpassing Joseph's (22,867) record for most minutes played in franchise history.
Toronto heads into Saturday's contest in 14th-place in the Eastern Conference with a 1-2-5 home record. Head Coach Javier Perez has guided the club to a 2-1-4 mark since taking over for former manager Chris Armas on July 4. Forward Ayo Akinola and midfielder Jonathan Osorio lead the attack with a team-best four goals each, while goalkeeper Alex Bono ranks fifth in MLS with 59 saves.
