5 Things to Know about #DALvSKC
Luchi vs. Vermes Part II
FC Dallas head coach Luchi Gonzalez is undefeated against Sporting KC and its head coach Peter Vermes. Gonzalez took over FCD in 2019 and has registered a 5-0-1 record against its conference rivals. Luchi has only faced SKC twice at Toyota Stadium, registering two shutouts in 6-0 and 1-0 wins respectively. The teams also faced off two weeks ago with FCD earning a 2-1 victory at Children's Mercy Park.
Streaks on the Line
With three wins and a draw in its last four games, FC Dallas enters Saturday's rematch with SKC in its best form of 2021. Dallas has outscored its opponents 9-2 over that run after settling on the attacking combination of Ricardo Pepi, Jesús Ferreira, Szabolcs Schön and Paxton Pomykal. FCD is also in the midst of an 18-game unbeaten run at Toyota Stadium, the longest-active home unbeaten streak in MLS.
Szabolcs Schön, the Hungarian Cowboy
Hungarian winger Szabolcs Schön earned his first Man of the Match award after assisting both goals in Dallas' 2-0 win over Austin FC last Saturday, making it four assists in his last four games. The award meant Schön had the honor of wearing an FC Dallas branded Stetson cowboy hat, a symbolic gesture for FCD's Man of the Match after home games. Schön's performance also earned the 20-year-old a place in MLS's Team of the Week for the first time.
Against Kansas City
FC Dallas' all-time regular season record against Kansas City is 28-25-13 (107 GF, 95 GA). Dallas' all-time home record against SKC is 16-10-5 (61 GF, 34 GA). FCD is 5-0-1 against SKC under Luchi Gonzalez.
About Kanas City
Sporting KC is currently first place in the Western Conference with 34 points (10-4-4). Top scorers Daniel Salloi (10) and Alan Pulido (7) have scored 17 of the team's 33 goals this season.
