TONIGHT:
The Ontario Reign (19-10-2-4) play their fourth home game against the Bakersfield Condors (17-13-1-3). The Reign already have one win against Bakersfield at home this year, and will look to get their third overall against the Condors after picking up a 4-3 victory on Saturday on the strength of Tyler Scofield's goal that came with 4.2 seconds left in regulation.
CANNATA NAMED ALL-STAR STARTER:
Reign goalie Joe Cannata was announced today as the starting goaltender for the 2015 ECHL All-Star Game, which will be played on Jan. 21 in Orlando. Cannata sports a 7-3-2 record in 12 appearances with the team so far this season, and is third .
COUTURE ON THE CUSP OF HISTORY:
Reign captain Derek Couture's first-period power-play goal on Saturday gave him 83 career goals in an Ontario uniform, tying him with Kyle Kraemer on the club's all-time goals scored leaderboard; his next goal will move him into sole possession of the record. His assist on Sunday afternoon also gives him 90 career helpers with the Reign; he is tied with former captain David Walker (90) for second all-time on the club's assist list.
WALKER EARNS ECHL HONORS:
Geoff Walker has been hot as of late, as the winger picked up Sher-Wood Hockey ECHL Player of the Week honors on Tuesday for his performance last week. He currently enters tonight's game with a five-game point streak (5g-3a).
ONTARIO DISTRIBUTING OFFENSE AGAINST CONDORS:
With Maxim Kitsyn's recent call-up to the Manchester Monarchs, the active scoring leader for Ontario is now second-year forward Matt White, who has posted four goals against Bakersfield through seven games. Four other Reign players have totaled four points against the Condors as well, including Tristan King (2g-2a), Tyler Scofield (2g-2a), Geoff Walker (1g-3a) and Matt Register (0g-4a).
