Barnes Named to All-Star Team

TOLEDO, OH- Just two days ago Tyler Barnes was named ECHL Rookie of the Month for December, today the league honored him again by naming Barnes as a starter for the 2015 ECHL All-Star Game on January 21, 2015 in Orlando, Florida.

Barnes currently leads all first year players in scoring with 36 points (13G, 23A) and is tied with teammate Anthony Luciani for the team lead. His 23 assists and plus 19 are both team highs.

"A well deserved honor for Tyler," said Head Coach Derek Lalonde. "He has continued to improve from day one and has a bright career ahead of him."

The native of Burnsville, Minnesota really hit his stride in November and December posting 31 points (12G, 19A). He also has a team high four game-winning goals scored this season. Barnes picked up his first professional goals by scoring twice in a seven game appearance with San Antonio at the end of last year.

Prior to turning professional, the 24-year-old forward spent four seasons at the University of Wisconsin. He scored 45 goals with 58 assists in 152 games for the Badgers and was part of the Wisconsin team that won the WCHA Championship in 2012-13.
