Thunder Drop to Eagles 4-2
January 7, 2015 - ECHL (ECHL)
Stockton Thunder News Release
Loveland, CO - The Stockon Thunder drop their fifth-straight contest Tuesday night in Colorado as they fall to the Eagles by a score of 4-2. The Thunder were perfect on the penalty kill, stopping all four power-play attempts from Colorado, and scored two power-play goals of their own on six attempts, but couldn't stop the Eagles at full strength. Goaltender Kent Simpson made some big saves on his way to a 33-save night and Peter Sivak led the way offensively with his fifth multi-point game of the year. Unfortunately, it wasn't enough as the Thunder are left still looking for their first win in 2015. They'll have to recover quickly, though, as their next game is Wednesday night against these very same Colorado Eagles.

Quotes
"I thought we had a couple chances, especially on the power play. I feel like if we were able to have a full power play, both of those power plays in the third got negated by fairly soft calls, but our power play has been great and was again tonight. Mario [Larocque] had a chance at the end and [Ryan Hayes] had a breakaway." - Coach Kromm on his team's power play
"I thought we could have had a better effort early on but our third period was much better. We knew Colorado was going to throw the kitchen sink at us after not scoring in two-straight games. We have to move forward now and go after it tomorrow." - Coach Kromm on his team's effort in the game
"Mario [Larocque] makes a hit, they don't like it, [Darryl] Bootland comes in, Mario wins the fight, and Bootland does his Colorado Eagle wave. I mean, it's uncalled for in our sport but it is what it is. I'm sure it gets under the skin of our guys and that was a big part of the frustration at the end." - Coach Kromm on the nastiness at the end of the game
"We have to have a little more offensive zone time, we have to get bodies to the net and shoot pucks. There's no easy answer, it's hard work, getting pucks to the net and going to the net for rebounds." - Coach Kromm on how his team can get more even strength goals
"I thought he was fine. He did some good little things, competed hard and had a great battle at the end. I thought he was fine especially considering he traveled all morning and got here just before the morning skate. It was a busy day for him, and obviously a nerve-wrecking too, so I thought his performance was good." - Coach Kromm on Klarc Wilson's debut for the Thunder
