Pensacola Ice Flyers News Release
Last night's game was a hard pill to swallow for the Ice Flyers. It's not often that one mistake dooms a game but that's what happened last night when the Ice Flyers coughed up the puck right outside the crease and Columbus fired it home to go up by the eventual final score of 3-2. The Mississippi RiverKings come into the Hangar fresh as a result of not playing since last Sunday when they beat their cross state rivals the Mississippi Surge 3-2. The season series with the RiverKings is tied at 1 win per team with Pensacola winning the last meeting 4-2 back on December 29th. In that game, Dan Buccella had a hat trick and Jordan Chong had a power play tally.
The Ice Flyers are still 4th in the SPHL standing with 47 points, one ahead of Louisiana. Mississippi RiverKings are in 8th in league with only 39 points. The Ice Flyers home record stands at 12-8-0 while the RiverKings have a 6-10-2 road record.
Where to Watch, Where to Listen:
Ice Flyers fans that are not able to make it down to The Hangar can listen to the game on 1450 ESPN Pensacola or streaming online. Fans can also watch the game at home online.
Team Scope:
PENSACOLA - The Ice Flyers are looking to get back to their winning ways after last night's disappointing loss. Corey Milan's overall record now stands at 9-11-3 with a 3.40 goals against average and a .876 save percentage; his record with the Ice Flyers stands at 5-5-1, a 2.80 GAA, and a 0.897 SV%. Jesse Kallechy is Milan's backup. He's yet to play for the Ice Flyers and his stats with Knoxville include a 6-8-2 record, a 3.55 GAA, as well as a 0.894 SV%. Chris Wilson leads the team in scoring with 43 points. Wilson's 24 goals lead the team and Jordan Chong's 26 assists are tops in that category.
The Ice Flyers' power play is now 3rd best in the league and up to 18.32% after last night's goal. The Flyers have netted 37 power play goals while only giving up 2 shorthanded goals. Pensacola's penalty kill is still in 5th at 82.63%. Pensacola has given up 29 power play goals against while also managing to score 6 shorthanded goals.
The Ice Flyers will hit the road tomorrow for a 3:05 faceoff with the Louisiana IceGators in Lafayette.
MISSISSIPPI - The RiverKings will be well rested when they take the ice in the Hangar tonight. In the crease the RiverKings have Scott Darling and former Ice Flyer Jeff Rose.
