RiverKings Drop Game One of Weekend Set

Southaven, Miss. - The Mississippi RiverKings fell on the road to the Pensacola Ice Flyers 4-1 on Saturday night.

The Ice Flyers got on the board midway through the first as Ryan Hohl scored unassisted at the 9:01 mark of the first period. A minute and a half later, Dan Buccella picked up his first goal of the night as he picked up Donnie Harris' rebound and punched it past Scott Darling on the power play to put Pensacola up by two.

Early in the second period, Darrell Stoddard took a Mark Magnowski pass and beat Jesse Kallachy on a shorthanded two-on-one to cut the deficit to one.

In the thrid, Pensacola took control early and didn't look back. Chris Wilson took a Buccella pass and beat Darling on a one-timer from the high slot to push the deficit back to two. A minute later, Buccella notched his second of the night on a pass from Harris on the power play to bring the score to the 4-1 final.

Scott Darling took the loss as he falls to 10-14-1 on the season as he stopped 28 of 32 shots against. Jesse Kallechy picked up his first win as an Ice Flyer as he stopped 33 of 34 shots against.

The RiverKings take to the ice tomorrow afternoon against the Mississippi Surge in Biloxi at 3:05. The game airs live on Sports 56 and the America One television network.
