Game Postponed Due to Ice Conditions at Bridgeport

April 12, 2014 - American Hockey League (AHL)
Adirondack Phantoms News Release

The Adirondack Phantoms' scheduled Saturday night game at the Bridgeport Sound Tigers was postponed due to poor ice conditions at Webster Bank Arena. The game will be made up on Monday at 7:00 in Bridgeport.

Webster Bank Arena hosted a big rave/concert on Friday evening which included a foam party. Some of the soap that was used during the event seeped through the protective floor-boards and caused some damage to the ice. The arena crew worked for hours to repair the damaged areas. After initially announcing a delayed start-time to continue working on the problems, the officials and coaches from both teams determined that it was best to not play the game.

With various holes, divots, bumps and bubbles in different locations on the ice, it was determined that the conditions could not be improved to a satisfactory standard in a timely manner to get the game in.

The Phantoms return to the Glens Falls Civic Center on Sunday evening at 5:00 to host the Utica Comets in the second-to-last home game for the Adirondack Phantoms. Then the team will return to Bridgeport for the make-up of their postponed game against the Sound Tigers.

Purchase your Sunday Family FunPacks for only $43 to receive 3 tickets, 3 hot dogs, 3 sodas, 1 large popcorn and 1 program. Call the Phantoms at 518-480-3355. And don't forget that the last ever home game for the Adirondack Phantoms is this Friday night against Bridgeport.

25 Terrific Seasons

Glens Falls is celebrating its 25th season hosting an AHL team and in so doing now joins an elite group of just 9 other active markets who can make such a claim. It's a great hockey tradition with an old-school feel that began with the Adirondack Red Wings in 1979. In their 20-year tenure at the Glens Falls Civic Center through 1999, the Red Wings won four Calder Cups. The Adirondack Phantoms began play in Glens Falls in 2009-10 and are in their fifth season bringing exciting AHL action to the North Country.
