Aberdeen IronBirds News Release
'Birds Drop Another One
The Hudson Valley Renegades took the second game of a three-game series, earning themselves a series victory with a 2-0 win over the IronBirds. Bradley Wallace earned the win for the Renegades, pitching three scoreless innings and allowing two hits. Josh Walker received the loss, pitching in his first professional outing, going one inning, allowing three hits and two runs.
There's No Place Like Home?
With the loss last night, the IronBirds dropped to 0-7 at Ripken Stadium. The start marks the worst home start in franchise history. If the IronBirds fail to win tonight, it'll be the first time they don't earn a home victory in June since 2005.
Don't. Run. Ever.
LHP Bennett Parry and catcher Alex Murphy paired up to retire four Renegade baserunners last night. Parry picked off both Bralin Jackson and Coty Blanchard, while Alex Murphy threw them both out later in the game, when the attempted to steal second-base.
Scoring Drought Continues
The IronBirds were shut out again for their second consecutive night. Last night marks the third time that they were shutout on the season (6/24 vs. SI, 6/27 vs. HV, 6/28 vs. HV). The 'Birds haven't scored a run in 21 innings, with the last run coming courtesy of home run from Jamill Moquete in the 6th inning of their game against the Brooklyn Cyclones on June 26th.
On the Mound Tonight...
The IronBirds will send RHP Nick Cunningham to the mound tonight. He is 0-1 with an 0.90 ERA on the year so far. In his last start on June 23 vs. Staten Island, Cunningham pitched five innings, allowed five hits, two runs (one earned), and took the loss.
