Hudson Valley Wins Fourth Straight

Aberdeen, MD (6/29/14)- Tying their longest winning streak of the season, the Hudson Valley Renegades have won four in a row after their 9-4 victory against the IronBirds on Sunday. With the win, the Renegades are now 12-5 overall, and stand alone in first place of the McNamara Division.

With Aberdeen falling behind by four runs early on, they put together a comeback and tied the game at four going into the eighth inning. It was then when Hudson Valley exploded for five total runs in the eighth and ninth innings, taking down the IronBirds for the seventh time this year.

Hunter Wood got the start on the mound for Hudson Valley, going four innings with four strikeouts and one earned run. He was followed by a trio of relievers, with Darren Fischer, Ryan Pennell and Eli Echarry tossing a combined five innings of two-run baseball.

For the first time in 2014, the Renegades had four players with multi-hit performances. Bralin Jackson, Casey Gillaspie, Mac James and Coty Blanchard all had two hits in the contest.

Homering for the third time in seventeen games, Hunter Lockwood finished 1-4 and drove in a season high four runs for his team. In his first at-bat he connected on a grand-slam to put his team ahead by four runs.

Heading into the game tied with Brooklyn for first place in the Division, Hudson Valley now has the best overall record out of all fourteen teams in the New York-Penn League. They are also the first team to reach twelve total wins.

Notes: The Aberdeen IronBirds are 0-7 against the Renegades this season, as they've been swept twice in the month of June. Coty Blanchard and Hunter Lockwood are both in the top fifteen hitters in the league, with Blanchard having thirteen hits in his last ten games.

The Renegades are off on Monday for the first time this season. Hudson Valley is back home on July 1st against the Cyclones at 7:05 PM.
