ABOUT YESTERDAY, THE OPENER: The Indians won Game 1 of yesterday's doubleheader in walk-off fashion last night, 4-3. They bounced back from an early 1-0 deficit with a solo home run by Diego Castillo and go-ahead RBI single off the bat of Jack Suwinski in the third inning. Following a leadoff walk to Mason Martin and the power-hitter's 11th stolen base this season, Rodolfo Castro lined a single into right field for an insurance run. In the top of the sixth, a pair of homers in a three-batter span by TJ Friedl and Colin Moran tied the game at 3-3 to set up a walk-off hit by Martin. With two outs in the bottom of the seventh inning and the game knotted at 3-3, back-to-back singles by Brendt Citta - playing in his first Triple-A game since May - and Jamie Ritchie extended the game to Martin. On a 2-2 offering, Martin launched a fly ball that carried over the left-fielder's head to plate the game-winning run.

WALK IT OFF: The Indians won via walk-off for the second conseuctive game yesterday in the doubleheader opener, with Mason Martin roping his second walk-off hit this season to the left-center field gap. It was the team's second stretch of walk-offs in back-to-back games this season after Canaan Smith-Njigba (single) and Oneil Cruz (two-run home run) on 4/23-24 vs. Columbus. The Indians now have eight walk-offs through 47 home games with 27 remaining this season after recording 10 in 64 total home games in 2021. Their 10 walk-offs last season were the team's most since recording 10 in 2015 and was four shy of the single-season team record (14 in 2001).

ABOUT YESTERDAY, THE NIGHTCAP: The Bats bounced back to take Game 2 yesterday, 9-6. Facing a 2-0 deficit early, Indianapolis climbed back to tie Game 2 with Suwinski's fifth Triple-A homer of the season in the second inning and back-to-back singles by Jared Oliva and Hoy Park in the third. Trailing by two again in the fourth, an RBI single by Taylor Davis and a two-run triple by Oliva - his third three-bagger of the season - gave Indy it's first lead of the contest. Louisville then plated four runs to take a lead it would not relinquish. After Citta drove in one more in the fifth, the Indians stranded the game-tying run at the plate in both the fifth and sixth innings.

DOUBLEHEADERS: The Indians have played four doubleheaders this season and have split each of them. In those games, they have outscored their opponents 46-44. Following yesterday's doubleheader, the Indians have two remaining twinbills so far on their schedule: on 9/7 at Omaha and 9/27 at Columbus.

CASTRO CLUBS IT: Rodolfo Castro picked up his fifth multi-hit game in his last six games with a 2-for-3 performance at the plate in Game 1 yesterday. He now has multiple hits in seven of his last 10 games and has currently hit safely in each of his last seven games. Since 7/16, Castro is hitting .362 (17-for-47) with three doubles, a triple, two home runs, six runs scored and driven in respectively. The switch-hitter has been on a tear dating back to July 1, and in his past 21 games he has eight multi-hit games and a .303 average (27-for-89) and .878 OPS.

JACK SMACKS: Jack Suwinski went 3-for-7 with a home run, two RBI and a stolen base during yesterday's doubleheader. He is now riding a six-game hitting streak - notching multiple hits in four of his six games. Suwinski leads the team with home runs (5), RBI (12), slugging percentage (.635), extra-base hits (8) and total bases (33) since joining the team on July 16. His five home runs ties him for the third-most home runs in the International League during that span.

YAHOO: RHP Miguel Yajure was brilliant in Game 1 of yesterday's doubleheader with 5.0 one-run innings. He held the Bats to just three hits while only issuing one walk and striking out five batters. Yesterday was the second outing this season where Yajure pitched 5.0 innings, he last did so on 7/8 against the I-Cubs (5.0ip, 3 H, 1 ER, 0 BB, 6 K).

TODAY: The Indians will look to get back into the win column after dropping the Game 2 of the doubleheader after taking the first two games of the series in walk-off fashion. The two teams have faced off eight times so far this season, with the Bats dominating the first rain-shortened series from 5/3-8, 4-1. The Indians lead the current seven-game set 2-1 going into the fourth game of the series. Tonight, Osvaldo Bido will take the mound for his second appearance and first start against Louisville this season. On 5/7, Bido tossed 2.0 innings and surrendered two runs on two hits, one walk and two strikeouts in his relief appearance. Countering for the Bats will be Randy Wynne, making his second start against Indianapolis this season. The right-hander's previous start against Indy came on 5/7, when he surrendered five runs on eight hits in 4.0 innings of work.

THIS DAY IN 1997: Damian Jackson went 5-for-6 with two RBI as Indianapolis outlasted Omaha in 12 innings, 10-8. With an early 8-1 lead, the then-Royals came back with seven runs in the final three frames to tie the game. Jackson finished a home run shy of the cycle, with his double and triple coming as two of the Indians' three extra-base hits out of their total 19 base-knocks. Chris Stynes led the offense with five RBI on two singles. Jeff Tabaka entered in the 10th inning and tossed 3.0 hitless innings with three strikeouts to earn his third win of the season.
