LAST NIGHT: The Indians and Mud Hens traded leads throughout much of the ballgame, but it was visiting Toledo that prevailed in 10 innings on Saturday night, 9-6. The extra-inning loss was Indy's fifth of the season. Tyler Lyons (L, 4-1) suffered the loss after yielding four runs (three earned) in the extra frame, the decisive blow coming on a go-ahead double by Dustin Peterson that opened the 10th. Lyons later skipped a wild pitch between Christian Kelley's legs to make it 7-5, and Daz Cameron (RBI double) and Pete Kozma (RBI single) made it a four-run burst. The Tribe brought the tying run to the plate in their half of extras but could only muster a Jason Martin sacrifice fly. Martin and Erik Gonzalez led Indy's offense with two hits apiece in the defeat.
KRAMER TO THE BIGS, CRAIG TO THE FUTURES GAME: INF Kevin Kramer was recalled by Pittsburgh this afternoon, and 1B Will Craig has joined the U.S. Team in Cleveland, Ohio for the 2019 All-Star Futures Game. Kramer reached base in four of his five plate appearances last night, recording one single, three walks, one RBI and one run scored in the loss. Over his last three games, the 25-year-old is batting .500 (3-for-6) with three RBI, one run scored and five walks, elevating his season average to .270 (70-for-259) and OBP to .348. Kramer leads the Tribe with 32 walks in 75 games played. Craig had a powerful first half, belting a team-high 17 home runs with 50 RBI in 81 contests.
TWO-OUT RBI: INF Kevin Kramer collected another two-out RBI on Saturday night with a bases-loaded walk in the fourth inning that gave the Tribe a 5-4 lead. The two-out ribbie was his 22nd of the season and 38th overall. He is second on the team in two-out RBI behind Will Craig (24) after tying with Wyatt Mathisen for the team lead in 2018 with 22.
FOUR-GAME STREAKS: 3B Ke'Bryan Hayes and C Christian Kelley are each riding four-game hitting streaks into today's first-half finale. Hayes, 22, is batting .357 (5-for-14) with one homer, one double, two RBI and four runs scored in his return from the injured list. Kelley is one game shy of matching his season-high streak of five games with a hit; he's batted .444 (4-for-9) with one long ball, one RBI and two runs scored during his streak.
GONZO FINDING HIS GROOVE: INF Erik Gonzalez started his rehab assignment in a 1-for-16 slump (.063) before breaking out over his last two games with four hits in his last nine at-bats (.444). In seven games with the Tribe, the 27-year-old owns a .200 average (5-for-25) with one double, one RBI and three runs scored.
TWO DOUBLES FOR J-MART: CF Jason Martin tallied doubles No. 13 and No. 14 of the season last night, the latter scoring Kevin Kramer from first base in the third inning to tie the game at 4-4. Nearly half of Martin's 51 hits have gone for extra bases; he has 14 doubles, three triples and six home runs. The two-double effort was his third of the season for Indy, with the first two coming on the road: May 27 at Columbus and June 5 at Louisville.
KESELICA KEEPS 'EM IN IT: LHP Sean Keselica took over for Cam Vieaux in the fifth inning last night and delivered four innings of one-run ball. The outing was his longest of the season, eclipsing his previous high of 3.1 frames on June 27 vs. Columbus. Keselica, 26, lowered his season ERA with Indy to 3.34 (13er/35.0ip), despite posting a 1.60 WHIP in his 21 relief appearances.
NINE WALKS: Indy worked a season-high nine walks at the plate last night but left 10 men on base and went 2-for-12 with RISP. The previous season high was seven walks, reached six different times -- most recently on May 19 vs. Norfolk. The Tribe's nine free passes marked their most in a game since drawing 12 walks in game one of a doubleheader on Aug. 15, 2018 at Scranton/WB.
