Last Time Out
Kelowna opened the scoring at Prospera Place with a tic-tac-toe power-play strike that sent the teddy bears flying 6:32 into the game. Mazden Leslie doubled the lead in his 300th WHL game, and while Nathan Free looked to have pulled one back with a strong solo effort, the goal was overturned after replay showed the puck slipped under the net.
Portland finally broke through on its 28th shot, as Ryan Miller found Cole Slobodian at the blue line for a no-doubt blast to make it 2-1. Despite a strong late push, Kelowna goalie Harrison Boettiger held firm to deny a Portland comeback, handing the Hawks a 2-1 defeat.
Pats Preview
The Winterhawks and Pats meet for their lone matchup of the season, with Portland looking to add another win to its tally against Regina after taking two of the last three meetings. The Hawks cruised to a 7-3 victory in their most recent clash in Regina during the 2024-25 season.
The Pats come into the weekend at 9-13-2-1 and are looking to rebound after an 8-3 loss in Everett on Wednesday. Portland can expect a hungry group, as Regina has dropped all four games on its U.S. Division road swing.
Over-ager Caden Brown leads the Pats with 27 points (18G, 9A), with his 18 goals ranking fourth among WHL skaters. Keets Fawcett has also tallied 27 points (17G, 10A), including eight power-play goals-good for fourth in the league in that category.
