Keep It Rolling

What. A. Win.

How about that 5-4 OT thriller over Saskatoon last night, Hawks fans?? The Klassen/Davies/Stefan line kept rolling with 10 total points in a back-and-forth 60 minutes that ended 4-4, setting the stage for some extra-time heroics from Jack O'Brien in front of a raucous VMC.

A fantastic victory over top competition, for sure - now, the challenge is to keep it going against a division rival the Hawks haven't seen yet this season...

Speaking of Spokane

The Spokane Chiefs sit at the bottom of the U.S. Division but boast plenty of high-end talent, and are coming off a rampant 8-1 win over the Victoria Royals on Saturday night. Led by top 2024 NHL Draft candidate Berkly Catton (30pts, 21GP) and standout 20-year-old Conner Roulette (29pts, 21GP), the Chiefs have spent much of the season hovering around a .500 win percentage and enter tonight's tilt looking to build momentum after their biggest win to date.

Spokane boasts a potent power play, operating at a 28.1% clip - good for fourth in the WHL, one spot ahead of Portland's 27.3%. Penalties doomed the Hawks in a divisional loss to Everett on Friday, and last night's win over Saskatoon still saw the Blades go 2-for-2 with the man advantage. Discipline will be paramount as Portland once again faces a foe that thrives in special teams situations.
