Back-2-Back

The Winterhawks and Americans will get to know each other well this weekend, facing off tonight in Kennewick and tomorrow in Portland. It's been a tight season series between the two clubs - Portland holds two wins to Tri-City's one, but the Americans have outscored the Winterhawks 12-11 through three games.

Americans Ascending

While Portland and Seattle have run away atop the U.S. Division, the Americans have quietly established themselves as another solid contender, taking third place from Everett with points in 12 consecutive games and wins in four straight. Top 2023 NHL Draft prospect Lukas Dragicevic paces the team from the blue line with 56 points in 45 games this season, and rookie Jordan Gavin is producing at just shy of a point-per-game clip in his 16-year-old season.

100 for Alscher

A milestone moment awaits Marek Alscher tonight as he is expected to suit up for his 100th WHL game!

Originally selected by Portland in the first round, #26 overall, of the 2021 CHL Import Draft, Alscher recorded 16 points in 61 games as a rookie en route to his third-round selection in the 2022 NHL Draft by the Florida Panthers. The Kladno, CZE native returned to the Rose City last fall for a second season with the Winterhawks and has already equalled or established career highs in goals (7), assists (10) and points (17) while logging heavy minutes on the blue line.
