Rivalry Weekend

The Hawks are officially in the playoffs but there's still plenty to play for in the regular season! With two big games against division rivals on tap for the weekend, Portland will need to be at its best in pursuit of another division title. Tonight, it's a tilt against Tri-City, who has climbed to fourth in the Western Conference and seems poised to do damage in the home stretch of the season. The Americans have stumbled as of late, though, dropping back-to-back games last weekend - including a 4-1 defeat to the Winterhawks on Saturday - ending a 13-game point streak that stretched all the way back to 2022.

Home Ice Advantage

The home team has won each contest through five games in the season series between these two clubs, with Portland having hosted and won three of those. After two uncharacteristic performances in Kennewick this year - a 7-3 loss in October and last Friday's 6-1 defeat - the Winterhawks will be keen to correct their road woes against the Americans tonight.

The key to success is offense - the winning team in each game of the season series has scored at least four goals while the losing team has tallied two or fewer in three of the five contests. Gabe Klassen and Luca Cagnoni have led Portland with six points apiece against the Americans this year, followed by a quartet of Winterhawks with four points each. Look for plenty of jump in the Hawks' attack tonight as they seek a first road win over Tri-City.

Milestone Watch

Two players hit the 100-game mark last week and we're slated to see another do the same this weekend!

Dante Giannuzzi sits at 99 games played as a WHLer, and with a back-to-back tonight and tomorrow, odds are good that he'll get one of the two starts this weekend. The Winnipeg, Man. product owns 58 wins thus far, and boasts a .900 save percentage and a 2.91 GAA in his career. This season, Giannuzzi has backstopped the Hawks to 22 victories in 31 appearances and earned WHL Goalie of the Week honors in November.
