Let's ride the momentum, shall we?
Why not?
Last night's win was important, any way you cut it. After Wednesday's heartbreak and disappointing loss, it sure is nice to beat (and jump) the team directly ahead of you in the standings as a response. Especially after giving up the first goal, which is often an indicator of how things will go in a tight game, the fact that the response came quick and insurance followed can't be stated enough. VP/GM/HC Mike Johnston said he didn't like his team's start but the back half sure was nice.
Okay so how do we win tonight?
Put it all together.
Four words, easy to say, but one of the hardest things to do if you're a hockey team. Wednesday night it was the start that was amazing for the Hawks, last night it wasn't what they had hoped for. Wednesday the finish was not good, last night it was. It all comes down to the details and ensuring everyone is on the same page, bringing the same energy to get it done. We've seen the club come so close in two of the three previous meetings, so it's bound to happen soon, right?
Who starts in goal?
That's the million dollar question.
Dante Giannuzzi's been great for the team, but Brock Gould is 3-0. Dante started last night and Brock is healthy, but Dante's started back-to-back's before. Regardless, two good options for Portland, so it's hard to go wrong with either decision.
