Lincoln Saltdogs News Release
LINCOLN -- Ian Gac delivered a two-run single to left center to give the Saltdogs (49-48) a 6-5 walk-off victory over the Wichita Wingnuts (65-32) in front of 4,696 fans at Haymarket Park Friday night.
Mike Coles led off the ninth with a double down the left field line off of Wingnuts closer Josh Dew. David Espinosa then flared a single to center, followed by a Curt Smith walk to set up the game-winner.
Danny Meszaros (4-2) pitched a scoreless inning of relief to earn the win. Dew (3-2) allowed the two runs without booking an out to blow the save and suffer the defeat.
The Wingnuts tallied four runs in the first, two unearned, to jump out to the early lead. Lincoln posted a three-ball in the bottom of the second, highlighted by a Sean O'Connell RBI double off the wall in left center.
Coles, Gac, Curt Smith, Matt Forgatch and Bryan Pounds all registered multi-hit games in the win, as the Saltdogs totaled 15 hits and avoided the sweep in their home finale.
The 'Dogs open a three-game series at Grand Prairie Saturday night at 7:05 p.m. Radio coverage begins at 6:35 p.m. on KFOR 1240.
