
G-Reds Drop First Two in Kingsport

KINGSPORT, TN - The Greeneville Reds (10-15) lost a pitchers dual Sunday afternoon at Hunter Wright Stadium, falling to the Kingsport Mets (13-12) 2-1. In his first professional start, LHP Andy Fisher allowed one run on six hits with four strikeouts in six innings, but did not factor the decision.
RHP Nate Peden retired the first nine Reds before Ivan Johnson led off the fourth with a single. Johnson moved to second on a ground out, stole third, and scored on Cristian Olivo's RBI ground out.
After five scoreless innings, the Mets cracked the run column against Fisher in the sixth. Kennie Taylor led off with a double, moved to third on Francisco Alvarez's infield single, and scored on Jaylen Palmer's RBI ground out.
RHP Raul Wallace (L, 0-2) came on for the seventh. After striking out Cristopher Pujols, he walked Gregory Guerrero. Guer- rero moved to second on a ground out, and scored the go-ahead run on Jhoander Saez's two-out RBI-double.
The Reds got the tying run to third base in the top of the eighth, but Allan Cerda lined out to third to end the inning. RHP Reyson Santos (S, 5) retired the Reds in order in the ninth to close out the game.
RHP Benito Garcia (W, 1-1) earned the win in relief. He allowed two hits with five strikeouts over three scoreless innings. Wallace took the loss after allowing a run on two hits and a walk in two innings. Santos struck out two in a perfect ninth for his fifth save.
The series turns to Pioneer Park Monday night, with first pitch scheduled for 6:30. LHP Jose Salvador (1-3, 6.10) will start for Greeneville against RHP Michel Otanez (2-1, 4.15).
Monday night at Pioneer Park is Dollar Monday presented by Econo Lodge, fans can enjoy $1 hot dogs, chips, soda, and select beer. It is also Miracle Monday presented by Greene County Chamber of Commerce where non-profit organizations can come out to a game and receive concourse tabling and tickets to promote what their campaign is all about.
