South Carolina Stingrays News Release
North Charleston, SC - Jason Fitzsimmons, head coach of the South Carolina Stingrays, announced today that the team has sent the rights to Aaron Power to the Las Vegas Wranglers, completing the future considerations provision in a trade that brought Evan Schwabe to the Rays last November.
"We hate to lose the rights to a player like Aaron," Fitzsimmons said, "but Evan has been a terrific player for us. Hopefully he will contribute for many years to come."
Evan Schwabe, a 5'9" center from Moose Jaw, Saskatchewan, joined the Stingrays last season in his rookie year after playing one game with the Wranglers. In college, Schwabe finished among Minnesota Duluth's top two scorers in his last two seasons and ranked as one of the highest scoring collegiate players in the country posting 102 points in his final 83 games. Schwabe had 56 points in 60 games with the Stingrays last season scoring 23 goals and adding 33 assists.
Power spent most of last season with Cleveland of the AHL. He returned to the Rays in the second round of the Kelly Cup Playoffs.
The Stingrays will drop the puck on the 14th season of professional hockey in the Low Country in October. Full Season, Weekend, and Partial ticket packages are now available. For more information, contact a Ticket Sales Manager at 744-2284 or visit us at www.stingrayshockey.com.
