Victoria Salmon Kings News Release
Victoria, BC - The Victoria Salmon Kings announced Tuesday the team has acquired the rights to Forward B.J. Gaustad and Center Doug Wright from the Augusta Lynx, completing the future considerations provision in a trade that sent Forward Jay Latulippe to Augusta last March.
"We have gained two prospects that have the potential to help us achieve our goals next season," said Dan Belisle, Salmon Kings Vice President of Hockey Operations and General Manager. "We welcome them both to Victoria and look forward to seeing them here next fall."
Gaustad, 27, was acquired by Augusta in December in a trade with the Phoenix Roadrunners (ECHL). He recorded one goal and two assists in his Lynx debut and finished the 2005-06 season with 43 points (13 goals, 30 assists) in 71 games. The 6'0", 205-lb native of Portland, OR tallied 35 points in 47 games during his two-year stint with St. Mary's Cardinals (NCAA) from 2001 to 2003, and posted 81 points in 145 games between the Kalamazoo Wings and the Muskegon Fury (UHL) from 2003 to 2005.
Wright, 25, was the first player to score 20 goals in Las Vegas team history, which he achieved in his first ECHL season in 2003-04. The 6'2" 195-lb native of Kamsack, SK earned 18 points in two seasons with Augusta. In his four year career with Providence College (NCAA), Wright tallied 42 points.
