Eastman Returns for Fourth Season

COLUMBIA, S.C. (June 6, 2006) - Head Coach Troy Mann has announced that the Columbia Inferno have agreed to terms with defenseman Derek Eastman for the upcoming season.

"I look forward to Derek returning to our lineup and continue to lead our young defensive core," said Coach Mann. "He is a leader on and off the ice and has developed into an elite defenseman at the ECHL level. We are thrilled to have a player with his level of experience leading us into the new season. "

Eastman, entering his fourth season with the Inferno, played 51 games last year contributing nine goals and 27 assists for 36 points. He also appeared in four games in the American Hockey League with the Norfolk Admirals and the Iowa Stars. During his three seasons with Columbia he has played in 187 games, scoring 26 goals and 81 assists for 107 points. Prior to joining the Inferno, he played collegiate hockey with St. Cloud State for four years.

"I have a very good relationship with Coach Mann and I am excited about playing for him as a head coach," said Eastman. "I look forward to continuing my career here in Columbia. The fans of Columbia deserve a winning product and I want to help lead this team back into the playoffs."
