Fuel Ink Shafer, Mattson Recalled

INDIANAPOLIS - The Indy Fuel, proud affiliate of the National Hockey League's Chicago Blackhawks and American Hockey League's Rockford IceHogs, announced today that defenseman Nick Mattson has been recalled to Rockford. The Fuel also signed goaltender Terry Shafer to an amateur tryout contract.

A Chanhassen, MN native, Mattson has appeared in six games with the IceHogs this season and posted two assists with an even rating. With the Fuel this season the 24-year-old rearguard has 14 assists and 15 points in his rookie campaign.

Shafer leaves Robert Morris University as the winningest goaltender in program history with 43 victories and the is career leader in goals against average at 2.67 and shutouts with eight. In his senior season the Penfield, NY native tied the single-season high for wins by a goaltender with 19 and was named Atlantic Hockey conference goaltender of the week three times. His four shutouts also tied a Robert Morris record for a single season.

Indy also announced Wednesday that goaltender Jeromy Semtner has been released.

The Fuel host the Cincinnati Cyclones on Thursday at 7:05 pm and Friday at 7:35 pm on Superhero Night at Indiana Farmers Coliseum. Thor, Iron Man, Captain America and Spider Man will be in attendance and fans are encouraged to dress up in superhero garb as well!
