ANCHORAGE, ALASKA - The Indy Fuel (3-6-1-0) avenged their Wednesday night loss to the Alaska Aces (6-2-0-1) by pulling out a 3-2 shootout win Friday night at Sullivan Arena, snapping a seven-game winless streak.
For the second straight game, the Fuel and the Aces were scoreless through the first 20 minutes. Notably there were 10 penalties called- 8 of which were for fighting. Also for the second straight game, there were three goals scored in the second period, but this time the Fuel shared in the scoring load. An Aces goal by forward Tyler Ruegsegger at the 2:18 mark was followed by a goal from Fuel forward Anthony Beauregard at 11:31 of play. The Aces rounded out the scoring for the period with a Tim Wallace goal to regain a one-goal lead.
The Fuel rallied again to tie the game at two in the third period. Defenseman Matt Stanisz had the final goal of regulation at 5:04 minutes. After a scoreless overtime period, the game went to a shootout. The Aces' Peter Sivak and Stephen Perfetto converted on their goals, while Tim Coffman missed.
