Fuel Edge Aces in Shootout

ANCHORAGE, ALASKA - The Indy Fuel (3-6-1-0) avenged their Wednesday night loss to the Alaska Aces (6-2-0-1) by pulling out a 3-2 shootout win Friday night at Sullivan Arena, snapping a seven-game winless streak.

For the second straight game, the Fuel and the Aces were scoreless through the first 20 minutes. Notably there were 10 penalties called- 8 of which were for fighting. Also for the second straight game, there were three goals scored in the second period, but this time the Fuel shared in the scoring load. An Aces goal by forward Tyler Ruegsegger at the 2:18 mark was followed by a goal from Fuel forward Anthony Beauregard at 11:31 of play. The Aces rounded out the scoring for the period with a Tim Wallace goal to regain a one-goal lead.

The Fuel rallied again to tie the game at two in the third period. Defenseman Matt Stanisz had the final goal of regulation at 5:04 minutes. After a scoreless overtime period, the game went to a shootout. The Aces' Peter Sivak and Stephen Perfetto converted on their goals, while Tim Coffman missed. Alex Wideman, Kevin Lynch, and Beauregard found the back of the net for the Fuel, to seal the extra point for the visitors.

Friday night's win marks the first win for the Fuel since a win against the Cincinnati Cyclones on October 15. The Aces' loss marks their first loss since an October 29 loss to Rapid City. Indy will attempt to win back-to-back games as they complete their three-game stint against Alaska Saturday night at 11:15 p.m. EST. The game will be broadcast live on the Fuel radio home of CBS Sports 1430 beginning at 11:00 p.m.

Indy returns home until Friday, November 18 to begin a 4-game home stand when they host the 2016 Kelly Cup runners-up, the Wheeling Nailers. This game is slated for a 8:00 p.m. puck drop.

Next Home Game: Friday, November 18 vs. Wheeling Nailers - 8:05 p.m. All Church groups are invited for a special night of fellowship and Fuel hockey, presented by Marian University. Friday is also a Fuel College Night presented by Moe's Southwest Grill - pick up a ticket, $5 towards concessions and $5 Moe's Bucks for $20 with a valid college ID.
