DANBURY, CT - The Adirondack Frostbite's five-game winning streak came to an end on Saturday, as the Danbury Trashers picked up a 5-4 win in front of 3,005 fans at the Danbury Ice Arena.

Danbury got on the board just 39 seconds into the first period. Dave Hymovitz won a face-off in the Frostbite end back to Mario Laroque at the left point. Laroque's long slap shot beat Frostbite goaltender Derek Gustafson for his third goal of the season.

The Frostbite tied the game with a power-play tally at 4:12. Derek Gustafson made a long pass up to Mike Berry at the Trashers' blue line. Berry came across the Trashers' blue line, and has his shot stopped by Sylvain Daigle, but Blue Bennefield was able to gather in the rebound in the left-wing circle and sent a quick shot back to the net that beat Daigle to the five hole.

The Trashers went back on top at 16:22 of the opening period. Jeff Daw had the puck along the right-wing boards, and centered a feed for Alex Goupil at the hash marks. Goupil's quick redirection eluded Gustafson for his seventh goal of the season.

Danbury made it a two-goal game just 1:18 into the second period as Brad Wingfield centered a pass in front for Daw who was all alone, and beat Gustafson with a quick shot for his second goal of the season.

Adirondack came right back with two quick goals to tie the game at 3. Kevin Watters pulled the Frostbite within one at 3:12 as he took a centering feed from Hugo Belanger and wristed a shot past Daigle for his team-leading 11th goal of the season.

Mark Hurtubise tied the game for the Frostbite just 48 seconds later with a power-play goal. Sylvain Cloutier fed the puck to Hurtubise in front, and he was able to jam a shot past Daigle, giving him at least one point in each of his first six games in a Frostbite sweater.

Danbury went back on top at 6:29. Jamie Thompson came out of the penalty box and gathered in a loose puck in neutral zone, and skated in alone on Gustafson. The Frostbite goaltender tried to get a poke check, but was unable to do so, and Thompson tucked the puck home on the far post for his first goal of the season.

The Trashers took a 5-3 lead at the 12:01 mark as Drew Omicioli gathered in a pass from his brother Mike and beat Kris Tebbs, who replaced Gustafson after the Thompson goal for his fifth goal of the season.

Adirondack pulled back within one before the end of the period, scoring its third power-play goal of the game. Watters took a pass from Sylvain Cloutier in the left-wing circle and blasted a shot past Daigle for his second of the night and 12th of the year.

The Frostbite got no closer, despite outshooting the Trashers 13-4 in the third period.
