Quad City Mallards News Release

The Motor City Mechanics snapped the Mallards eight-game unbeated streak with a 4-2 win on Saturday in Fraser, Michigan. With the loss, the Mallards fall to 8-4-2 on the season.

A strong effort by Mallards netminder Jason Tapp kept the game deadlocked through the game's first 40 minutes. In the second period alone, Tapp stopped all 22 shots he faced to keep the game scoreless.

The Mechanics dented the scoreboard early in the final period as Henry Acres scores to break the tie. Evgeny Lazarev countered less than a minute later to even the score at one apiece.

Five minutes later, Motor City's Adam Edinger scored to retake the lead for the Mechanics. Patrick Nadeau scored at 10:50 of the third to retie the game.

The Mechanics took control of the game when former Mallard Mike Burgoyne scored the game-winner on the power play. Motor City's Brent Gretzky added an empty net goal to secure the win, 4-2.

The Mallards are in Kalamazoo tomorrow for their first matchup with the Wings this season. Game time is 3:00 p.m. central time. The Mallards Pre-Game Show is on the air at 2:35 p.m. central time on Fox Sports Radio AM 1230.
