Adirondack Frostbite News Release
GLENS FALLS, NY -- The Motor City Mechanics scored three times in the third period to defeat the Adirondack Frostbite 4-1 on Tuesday night in front of 2,389 fans at the Glens Falls Civic Center.
Motor City got on the board first 10:05 into the first period. Kris Tebbs made the initial save on a Kevin Hansen shot from the right point, but the rebound came free to Tom Kotsopoulos on the near post, and he was able to slide a shot home for his third goal of the season.
The Frostbite tied the game just over three minutes later. Mike Berry centered a pass for Hugo Belanger streaking down the slot, and the Frostbite captain one-timed a shot past Mechanics' goaltender Rod Branch for his 14th of the season.
The Mechanics went ahead for good 2:50 into the final period. Chris Gignac had the puck along the left-wing boards, and centered a feed in front for Kris Vernarsky, who was able to redirect the puck over Tebbs' left shoulder for his fourth tally of the season.
Motor City got an insurance goal at 16:32 as Peter Szabo snapped a shot past the short side of Tebbs for a power-play goal to make it 3-1. Szabo set the final with an empty-net tally at 18:38.
