TRASHERS WEEK IN REVIEW

TRASHERS TIE SCORE LATE, BUT CAN'T SOLVE THE SHOOTOUT IN 3-2 LOSS IN ELMIRA December 23, 2005

ELMIRA, NY--Drew Omicioli's team leading 14th goal of the season tied the score at 2-2 in the 3rd period, but Danbury's shootout woes continued as they failed to get anything past Nick Boucher as the Jackals topped Danbury 3-2 on Friday night at First Arena.

Danbury took a 1-0 lead on a power play goal by David Hymovitz at the 9:24 mark of the opening period, assisted by J.M. Daoust and Fred Belanger.

With the Trashers on the power play in the second, Kevin Cooper took a pass from Flo Iberer and beat Jayme Platt for a shorthanded goal at the 15:17 mark of the period. Meanwhile, several fights broke out at the 16:43 mark that saw the Trashers lose Dave MacIsaac and Ed Campbell for the rest of the game, and the Jackals scored again as Chris Chaput netted his 11th of the season at the 19:32 mark to give Elmira the lead.

Drew Omicioli's goal came at the 12:48 mark of the third as he deked Boucher for his 14th of the season from Mike Omicioli and Jamie Thompson.

In the shootout, Konstantin Kalmikov and Jason Sessa beat Platt, while four shooters failed to score for the Trashers, who fall to 16-7-5 this season. The Trashers unbeaten streak continues however as they're 8-0-3 in their last 11 games. The Jackals have won 3 of their seven games against Danbury, as the Trashers are just 0-1-2 against Elmira.

Platt finished with 33 saves in regulation while Boucher stopped 40 of 42 Danbury shots.
