DANBURY, CT-The Danbury Trashers, proud members of the United Hockey League (UHL), acquired the rights to forward Ryan Barnes in a trade with the Elmira Jackals, it was announced by Team President A.J. Galante.

Barnes, 25, was recently acquired by Elmira in a trade with the Kalamazoo Wings and in turn was dealt to Danbury for defenseman Mathieu Wathier. Barnes, a Dunnville, Ontario native, played seven games with Hamilton in the American Hockey League this season and spent last season with Grand Rapids (AHL) and Kalamazoo (UHL).

A one-time second round draft pick of the Detroit Red Wings, Barnes set personal bests with 23 points on 10 goals in 80 games last season, having played 69 of those contests with Grand Rapids.

In 295 professional games, Barnes has totaled 65 points on 26 goals with 696 penalty minutes. Barnes reached the National Hockey League (NHL) during the 2003-04 season when he appeared in two games with the Detroit Red Wings.
