THE WEEK THAT WAS:

December 20, 2005 @ Roanoke (3-1 L) Jan Jas scored a goal and two assists in a three goal third period to down the RiverDogs 3-1 in Roanoke. The RiverDogs got on the board in the first period on a Warren Cooper tally at 14:29. The lead stood until the 0:30 mark in the third when David Beauregard scored the first of his two goals to spark the Vipers. Doug Groenestege was in nets for the RiverDogs and stopped 40 of 43 shots. Attendance: 1,185.

December 21, 2005 vs. Elmira (5-3 W) John DiPace's two goals, including the game winner, and a three point night from team scoring leader Mike Oliveira paced the RiverDogs to a 5-3 victory over the Elmira Jackals. The win was also General Manager/Head Coach Robbie S. Nichols 300th coaching victory in the UHL. Brian Goudie added a pair of assists for Richmond. Mike D'Alessandro got the win for the RiverDogs. Attendance: 2,314.

December 23, 2005 vs. Flint (4-3 SOW) Warren Cooper's two-goal night and a two-goal comeback to force a shootout ended up a big win for the RiverDogs against the Flint Generals 4-3. Matt Elich put the Gens up 2-0 before Warren Cooper broke the shutout in the second period. Terry Marchant put Flint up 3-1 late in the second period. A wild donnybrook took place at the end of the period that resulted in the ejection of eight players. The fisticuffs sparked fire in the RiverDogs as Mike Oliveira and Cooper's second goal of the night tied the game going into the shootout. Oliveira got the only goal in the shootout for the RiverDogs. Doug Groenestege got the shootout victory, his 4th such victory this season. Both teams combined for 33 penalties and 160 penalty minutes. Attendance: 3,599.

THE WEEK AHEAD:

The RiverDogs will play four games in five days beginning with three in a row against the Danbury Trashers beginning Wednesday, December 28 in Danbury. The two teams travel back to Richmond to play on Friday, December 30 at 7:35 pm before returning back to Danbury to play the finale on New Years Eve. The week concludes with a New Years Day game against the Elmira Jackals at 4:05 pm. The game against Elmira will be Fox Post-game Skate with the RiverDogs. Fans are asked to bring their skates and join the Dogs on the ice after the game. Fans who do not have skates are invited on the ice to join in on the fun, get autographs, pictures and meet their favorite players.
