September 12, 2013 - Ontario Hockey League (OHL)
Kingston Frontenacs News Release
When the Kingston Frontenacs hit the ice to open their 41st season next week, fans will have the option to purchase low-price seats that will help two local community groups. In partnering with McDonald Restaurants of Greater Kingston Area and presented by the Kingston Whig-Standard, the Kingston Frontenacs have created the McCommunity Zone, where tickets will be priced at $10.99 and $1 from every ticket sold in the section over the course of the 2013-14 to be shared by both Pathways to Education and the Boys and Girls Club.
"It's important for those agencies and businesses who have the opportunity to help the community make it a reality," said Justin Chenier, Executive Director of Business Operations with the Kingston Frontenacs. "Partnering up with Karen and Ron Sutherland and their staff at the McDonald Restaurants of Greater Kingston gives us the chance to give fans a ticket price that provides access to fans who may have never experienced Kingston Frontenacs hockey, or even fans who want to help the community. Karen and Ron have been amazing community supporters and we are privileged to be able to work with them to make a difference in the community. The Kingston Whig-Standard's support in promoting the program will provide exposure to the community about the program and how it helps the community."
Along with community donation from every ticket sold in the McCommunity Zone, the front row of the section is being donated to the both community programs as season tickets to provide greater community access to Kingston Frontenacs games.
"We believe in the potential of children and youth we see it in our restaurants and in our community everyday," said Karen Sutherland, owner of McDonalds Restaurants of Greater Kingston Area. "We see the potential in the players on the Kingston Frontenacs team who have come to Kingston to live their dream and to provide entertainment for our community through their athletic abilities. The Kingston Frontenacs organization has partnered with McDonald's to support two very worthwhile charities the Boys & Girls Club of Greater Kingston and Pathways to Education that help children and youth reach their potential. What a great partnership."
Seats in the McCommunity Zone can only be purchased at the Rogers K-Rock Centre Box Office beginning on the Monday prior to the game and only when presenting a receipt from a receipt from any McDonald Restaurant of Greater Kingston from a meal purchase within the previous seven days.
