Green Bay Rockers News Release

FrogVille, WI - Two big innings by the Bullfrogs powered them to the 7-2 win over the Eau Claire Express on the road. The defense turned three double plays behind Josh Martin who earned his first win of the year.

Martin, making his first start after he was drafted in the 25th round by the Pittsburgh Pirates, earned the win going six innings, allowing six hits and two runs. The lead-off hitter reached in five of Martin's six innings, including the first two hitters of the first two innings. In the first, Martin started a double play with no outs to help him get out of that jam. In the second, he rolled a 6-4-3 double play to put a runner on third with two-outs. However, that runner came across to score on a passed ball to make it 1-0.

In typical Bullfrog fashion this year, Green Bay responded in the very next frame with four runs in the top of the third. The 'Frogs caught some breaks as they loaded the bases with no out. Alec Mehrten reached on an error, Cameron Dullnig walked and Chris Migani reached on a sacrifice bunt attempt when no one was covering first base. Express starter AJ Glasshoff retired the next two hitters before walking Joe Betcher to tie the game. Andy Hunter then hit a two RBI infield single as the Bullfrogs were very aggressive on the base paths. It was a ground ball to the shortstop Ty Forney that he knocked down with a dive in the left field grass. While Forney was corralling the ball, Migani never stopped hustling from second base as he scored to give Green Bay a 3-0 lead. When the throw from Forney went to the plate, Betcher took third which proved to be a big play as he would then score on another infield hit.

The bullpen was lights out on Thursday night in relief of Martin. Cory Kyle threw two no-hit innings before John Colella closed it out in the ninth. Colella's ninth inning was made a little easier thanks to three runs in the top of the frame. Migani, Billy Moon and Hunter all had RBI base hits in the inning as the 'Frogs would go on to a 7-2 victory in another balanced offensive attack led by a pair of Gonzaga Zags. Moon went 3-4 with a RBI double and a run scored. Hunter went 2-4 with three RBI in the first game of a five game road trip.

Green Bay and Eau Claire will wrap up a two game set on Friday at 6:35 pm before the Bullfrogs travel to Iowa for a three game series with the Waterloo Bucks.
