'Frogs Lose on Walk-Off Again

Wausau, WI - July 12th, 2011 - For the second straight night the Bullfrogs lost in walk-off fashion. A night after they gave up a walk-off home run, they allowed a bloop single in the bottom of the ninth to Garret Yrigoyen in a 4-3 loss to the Wisconsin Woodchucks on the road Tuesday night.

The bottom of the ninth began with a throwing error by shortstop Alec Mehrten who had just entered the game. Carlos Escobar Jr. moved to second on a sacrifice bunt after the error. Following a ground out, Yrigoyen drove in his fourth run of the year with a bloop single down the right field line to give the Woodchucks a 4-3 win.

The Bullfrogs had a chance to take the lead in the eighth and ninth inning but came up empty. Billy Moon hit a one-out double in the eighth inning. Mitch Haniger would pop out before Moon moved to third on am error by the second baseman who misplayed a ground ball off the bat of Paul Hoenecke. Eric Peterson, who had been hot entering the game on Tuesday evening hit a line drive to left field that Danny Susdorf was able to track down to end the threat. The 'Frogs also got a two-out double in the top of the ninth by pinch-hitter Duncan McAlpine before Ty Filliben flied out to right field.

Green Bay scored first in the third inning with three runs. After a pair of singles from Jonathon Walsh and Steven Halcomb, Jacob May hit an RBI double. Billy Moon then hit a ground ball to first base. Robbie De La Cruz fielded the ball and tried to cut Halcomb down at the plate, but his throw went to the back stop. After Halcomb scored May came in on the error to give the Bullfrogs a 3-0 lead.

Mark Anderson started for the Bullfrogs and went two scoreless innings before he was removed as was the plan entering the evening. Drew Bradshaw entered the game in the third and allowed a two-out run on a single from Danny Sudorf. In the fourth, Bradshaw allowed two runners to reach on a walk and single. With two outs De La Cruz would atone for his throwing error with a two-RBI double to tie the game at three. The Woodchucks scored all four of their runs after two outs.
